The 2009 season
Professional indemnity insurance rates have firmed as a result of turbulence in the property and financial markets, most notably for surveyors, mortgage brokers, and those in the financial services sector. We expect a similar hardening in rates for solicitors with related business.
Also, some insurers have decided to write less business, and narrowed the types of legal business they are willing to consider.
Accordingly, we believe it would be prudent for solicitor firms to obtain at least one quote earlier in the season to protect against potentially hardening rates.
